Heathrow and Gatwick are about 45 miles apart and there is no direct train between them. A private car takes you terminal to terminal, usually in 60 to 90 minutes along the M25, depending on the time of day.

At Heathrow they wait inside the arrivals hall with your name on a board — at Pret A Manger in Terminals 4 and 5, or at WHSmith in Terminals 2 and 3. Coming from Gatwick, they meet you at Pret A Manger in arrivals at North or South Terminal. They drop you at the terminal you fly from next.
The price is fixed per car, not per passenger, and does not change if the M25 is slow. For two or more people with luggage, a car often costs little more than coach tickets for everyone — and it leaves when you land, not when the timetable says.
Allow for passport control and baggage at one airport, the drive, then check-in and security at the other. For most self-transfers we suggest at least 4 to 5 hours between landing and your next departure — more at peak times or if you have to collect and re-check bags.
